The OpusPocus Sound System

This is my personal sound system.

Evolved over 15 years of working at Opus Audio Technologies, and one of the few systems that has been entirely designed & built by it's owner.

The 'Wheelie Bin'

Double 15" bass speakers, 8 of them, are the building blocks of the many different configurations that are possible.

Flat frequency response from 40Hz to 180Hz, and stunning sound quality from the two custom Opus Audio 2000w 15" drivers in each one.

Great on their own, with an Opus MP400 for a top box, and simply stunning in stacks up to 4 high, with three arrayed OpusPocus top boxes on top.

Flexibility & portability are the key.

The 'Wheelie Sub'

A few years ago, I got asked to design a monster.

The National Theatre in London required a super sub bass speaker, to replace their aging 30" EV subs.

It would have to play frequencies down to 20Hz, for thunderous theatrical sound effects, with no size restriction.

so, on behalf of Opus Audio, I designed 'National Thunder'

A double 24" 2.5 kilowatt bass monster.

I was so impressed with the sound that I built myself the same thing, but split into two separate cabinets, with the same footprint as the Wheelie Bin, so that it would stack well, and could be easily moved by one person.

The result was the Wheelie Sub.

Flat frequency response from 25Hz to 125Hz, and a truly unique listening experience.

Normally sub speakers sound understandably strained at low frequencies, but these speakers, with their custom Precision Devices 4ohm 24" cones sound easy & natural.

The new OP2 top box

New for 2013. the new 2 way ultra light OP2 weighs in at under 30Kg, yet is loud enough for venues of up to 1000 people.

Modified from our 2012 duel concentric top boxes, these are now back to  the 'two-cones-and-a-horn' configuration, to enable us to reach the sound levels required in larger venues.

Opus - Tannoy Gold Stage Monitors

These were some of the very first speakers that got built by Opus Sound, in the early days.

Recently picked up, in a bit of a state, they've now been fully serviced, and it's great to have them completing our stage set up.

The New DC1210

Well, we had to do something with the duel concentric cones out of the old top boxes, and what better than an entire sound system in one box!

The new DC1210 monitor has the same high power 1.4" compression driver as the main system, mounted co-axially on the back of an incredible custom Opus cone from PHL in France, designed by the man who was the chief designer of Audax for 12 years.

This speaker uses a passive crossover design from Opus Tony, designed especially for this cone combination, and then with the addition of a separately powered 1000w 12" sub bass driver from Italy, capable of frequencies down to 40Hz, that make this, without a doubt, the best sounding full range speaker I have ever built.

The first two are now with the Toadstool psy trance crew, and Mikey's studio, the second two will remain in my studio.

There still exists two more duel concentric cones for the construction of two more, for some lucky person!
